Del Cerro's homes tend to be larger and although many of them have lake views as well, the homes are not actually situated on the lake. This neighborhood has well-tended yards and homes, and in addition to lake views, many homes look out the other direction, towards downtown and the ocean. High school students in the Lake Murray area attend Patrick Henry High School, a public high school with a strong emphasis on academics. With well-funded programs, both scholarly and athletic, Patrick Henry High School prides itself on its Advanced Placement participation and scores, and its ability to prepare students for higher education at Ivy League and other distinguished colleges and universities.

Those who commute to downtown San Diego face about a half hour drive in the morning. Another option is to hop on the San Diego Trolley at San Diego State University's new transit center. You'll be downtown in about 40 minutes.
