Recently under new ownership, it is in the midst of a $150 million renovation that polishes the golf courses, swimming pools and lounges. The new owners are also planning on adding new retail space and a ballroom.

But the expansion doesn't stop there. La Costa will soon be a part of an entirely new trend in real estate. It will construct almost 200 new villas that it will sell to owners to use up to 120 days per year. The owners will then use these villas as rental spaces for the remainder of the year, making payouts per guest stay. This is a great opportunity to invest in a luxury community as a second home, and in La Costa real estate.

La Costa is a great place to simply get away from it all. Even with the spa aside, there are plenty of activities to do on the premises—play golf on one of two PGA courses, have a drink in one of the lounges or simply walk around the spectacular facilities. It might be even better, however, to take in the natural beauty that surrounds the resort. Take a stroll to the Batiquitos Lagoon, or hike down one of the nearby canyons for a change. Or go with the old standby—gazing out at the Pacific Ocean. Living in La Costa is truly life at its finest. Homes range in cost from $495,000 to just under $2 million. In February 2006, the average home sold for $672,183.
