Chula Vista Real Estate

As one of San Diego's largest areas, Chula Vista provides convenience, great weather and affordable housing to all who live there. It's an area with great activities for the whole family, and as the area continues to expand, more beautiful real estate is becoming available.

As the second-largest city in San Diego County, Chula Vista has great shopping, drawing tourists up from Tijuana and down from other parts of San Diego to take advantage of its great discount retail stores. Its 165,000 residents have easy access not only to grocery and convenience stores, but to outlets and secondhand stores. On the weekends, the area bustles with shoppers.

Chula Vista's relatively new growth and sunny climate have made it the perfect place to build large-scale facilities that take advantage of the area's setting and weather. For example, it is home to one of three United States Olympic training facilities, and is the largest of the three. Athletes here can cross-train almost year round, unhindered by bad weather in the winter. The Coors Amphitheater, a large entertainment venue, is outdoors and trademarked by its broad expanse of bright green lawn; many concertgoers opt to bring blankets and sit there in the summer instead of in the amphitheater's seats. Knott's Soak City USA Water Park is also in Chula Vista, as are several free recreational parks great for local kids and their families. A large marina has docking space for over 500 boats.

There is a strong economy in Chula Vista, spearheaded by heavy industry that relies on the nearby port. Its proximity to Mexico makes it a popular spot for corporate headquarters of multi-national organizations. Chula Vistans who work downtown have about a half-hour commute each way.
The median price of a single-family home in Chula Vista last year hovered in the $500,000s. The average home sold for $524,781 in February 2006. The value of these homes is quickly appreciating, though, so potential buyers should act quickly.
