Instead, these gorgeous pieces of architecture are now mainly used for housing San Diego's largest grouping of museums, including those dedicated to art, natural history, photography and more. This Spanish Colonial Revival architecture is almost impossible to find outside of California, and groups come in from all over the country to admire and photograph it.

The other main attraction of Balboa Park is the San Diego Zoo, widely considered the best in the country. But as people enter Balboa Park for this attraction, they are also drawn to things like the Japanese Friendship Garden, the kid's carousel and the Old Globe Theater, which is a replica of the Globe Theater in England.

While there is no real estate for private homes in Balboa Park, large homes line the streets bordering the park and real estate there is spectacular.
